Watching the re-run of "The Elegant Universe" over the weekend, I wondered if, as was posited, gravity can seep between dimensions, could the "Great Attractor" be such a case, instead of indicating mass in our own universe? Could it be an indication of a parallel "brane" close to our own, or a lot of mass tied-up in one of those 7 other dimensions? You can tell my mind isn't on my work this morning... Happy New Year to all my list freinds. May 2005 be better than 2004. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The all-new My Yahoo! - What will yours do? http://my.yahoo.com
VERY interesting thought, Chuck, after I took 4 Excedrin for the brain (brane?) cramp the thought gave me. Would love to have you expand more on it more. Interesting idea for the new year. Was the Elegant Universe on TV or video rental? I've not seen it yet but would like to now if on rental. Happy New Year - watch out for the cosmic headaches, though! Thanks Patrick, I may have a lead on a loaner near me. If that doesn't work out, I will contact you. Thanks for the offer, Jim Patrick Wiggins <paw@trilobyte.net> wrote: Jim Stitley wrote:

Chuck You raise a very good point. Hopfully the membranes won't touch as the local group heads towards the "Great Attractor". "It's possible" gravity could seep between dimensions, "like the Randall Sundrum model." But it would not result in any observable astronomical features because any gravity leakage is "not significant enough." -- says a close associate who is a physics student. Thanks, Joe
