I had a NASA ambassador training session tonight and during the session they said that NASA-TV will be carrying the Deep Impact "crunch" live starting late on the night of the 3rd and going through early morning on the 4th. Exact start and stop times of the NTV coverage are not yet set. Patrick
Hi Patrick As you can see, things are starting to build here on Maui prepping for the July 3rd impact. I'm not quite sure how well our scopes will see the comet from downtown Kahului but surprisingly enough we can see stars even throught the streetlight glare. Being that the impact is during a holiday, the MCC campus will have a good amount of the lighting reduced and w/ the help of a few MCC/IfA staff, more lights will be turned off or covered. Our spot for our scopes is in a light shadow and has a god view to the comet, so we'll be able to provide to the public a view of the comet thru a few scopes and live (almost) coverage of the event. Even with all the technology at MCC, I still would like to be up on Haleakala. Stay tuned,Aloha Rob
