Re: [Utah-astronomy] Payson Lakes
I once took my scope on an overnight camping expedition when I was looking for trilobites in the western desert. By nightfall I was too tired to do anything with the telescope. I don't think I even set it up. -- Joe ------------------------------ On Fri, Jun 28, 2013 2:18 PM MDT Debbie wrote:
The sky was beautiful at Kolob Reservoir. Our scouts had a great time looking through my refractor. However, it was a bit windy which has been the story all summer. I could only push the power to 100X. I want to take the 15" Obsession when I get a good night. It is tough to do both star gazing and fishing on the same day though.

Did a star party last night (solo) for a group of scouts up at Payson Lakes in a meadow near loop 'B' at about 8,000 feet (ideal). Anyone else observed from up there? The sky was fantastic last night, and it's just under an hour's drive from my home in Lindon. The star clouds in Sagittarius were especially lovely.
