On the last night of an extended Space Elevator games (Monday Oct 22), the Univ. of Saskatchwan did a run with their green laser powered climber. An amazing YouTube video captured the run up the ribbon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cuLm1ripyU - Kurt updated to the Utah Astro current events entry for the Space Elevator Games _______________________________________________ Sent via CSolutions - http://www.csolutions.net
Kurt, I am wondering if you saw the articles I had in the Deseret News about a week ago concerning the Space Elevator. The second one had a report on the University of Saskatchwan's efforts, which nearly won the $500,000. Personally, I doubt the Space Elevator will be practical, but I think these contests may well improve the technology in some unforeseeable way. Best wishes, Joe Kurt Fisher <fisherka@csolutions.net> wrote: On the last night of an extended Space Elevator games (Monday Oct 22), the Univ. of Saskatchwan did a run with their green laser powered climber.
