With all the bad news we've been having lately, I thought I'd share a happy moment. I have a few reasons to feel good today. I was driving through Spanish Fork Canyon recently, sun shining on the deep red and orange maple leaves (looks like we'll be treated to a glorious, colorful fall this year), listening to my favorite oldies-but-goodies R&R station, when I heard the following lyrics that some of you may also recognize: Things are goin' great and they're only gettin' better. I'm doin' all right and gettin' good grades. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. I've been waiting a long time for a better future for me and my family, and I think I may finally need shades. I don't mean to belittle at all what people are going through elsewhere, but we can all still have/see a little hope - the proverbial silver lining - in a few places. I hope I can share what I've been given with those who may need some help. And that also goes to any of my good friends closer to home. So, even if y'all just need to get away from the koyaanisqatsi of the Wasatch Front, come rest yer bones in Sanpete and visit us in Mt. Pleasant. Skies are dark here...at least when the weather cooperates. Kim
What a great message to run across. While you always manage to show good spirits to all of us (no Guy, not that kind.), it makes my day to hear that you might, at long last, be getting some of the good news and good times that you so richly deserve. Thanks for sharing it with us! Jo At 04:42 PM 9/8/2005 -0600, Kim wrote:

Why thank you, Jo, you're so kind. I'm not sure I deserve anything, and believe it or not, I didn't mean to imply that my ship had suddenly arrived. (I think it was actually caught in the same ice floe as the Titanic.) But life is just so nice here in Sanpete and I am enjoying my work much more. I just wanted to share with all my good friends "up north" how great I've been feeling lately. I do miss all your company during the wee hours under the stars, though. I'm hoping we'll get one of those Indian summer (is that still PC?) periods this fall for some warm autumn observing at Wolf Creek. Skyline Drive is still a possibility... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Josephine Grahn" <bsi@xmission.com> To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, September 08, 2005 5:18 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] good times | What a great message to run across. Thanks so much for the spirit-lifting thoughts, Kim. I've been pretty sad lately and it was nice to think about the pleasant aspects of life. -- Joe
