Rush Valley, Wednesday night
Mike Bailey and I got out to Rush Valley last night for a few hours. It was chilly with occasional gusts, but not a bad night at all. There was a bit of dodge'em with some clouds, but still plenty to see. Limiting magnitude was just a bit past 5.0--not fantastic, but still pretty darn good for a former New Englander. I saw and photographed a beautiful pair of sundogs just as I got around Eagle mountain. As a relatively recent arrival, I have no idea how common they are here, but it's the first time I've ever seen them. Each 'dog' was a little rainbow. Cool. Years ago during the summer months, when Silver Sands and Black Rock beach were at their peak, you could spot them down by the waters edge swatting brine flies or frolicking in the surf... Quoting MichaelCarnes <michaelcarnes@earthlink.net>:
