I seem to remember seeing folks at star parties wearing head bands with red LED lights that are used for chart reading in the dark. Anyone know where I could get such a head band? Thanks, Patrick :-)

Good suggestion, Sieg, Found one at Wal Mart with selectable red and white LEDs and the AAA batteries were included. $13. Patrick Siegfried Jachmann wrote:

Aloha Patrick I use a PETZL TIKKA 3 led light w/ the red filter. It uses AA batteries ( a pair) and not the expensive 6V single use batteries used in other models. I bought mine thru Mountain Gear.com ($32.95 + $3.50 filter kit) and use it on ever night adventure to Haleakala or the Kaupo side of Maui and a back up safety light when I cave. I've had my Tikka's for over a year now and I am still using the supplied batteries, a very light weight and convenient light source. Aloha Rob
I purchased mine at Lowe's by the register. It was $14.95 and it is selectable between Red & Blue LED's plus a Halogen bulb. I just make certain I have it on the Red setting when observing. It uses 3 AAA batteries and I was still on the original set of batteries until I swiped them for use in the green laser pointer.
