A flight to the edge of space
Fellow list member Rob sent me this link to a BBC video about a flight in a U-2. Wow! http://www.wimp.com/breathtakingfootage/ patrick p.s. For the adventurous out there, here are a few more flying stories that might get your blood pumping: feed://www.aopa.org/pilot/never_again/podcast.xml

Do they (Air Force) fly these any more? Was it just the SR-71 that was taken out of service?
I liked the comment that "this was considered space in 1950". Fellow list member Rob sent me this link to a BBC video about a flight in
a U-2. Wow!

Actually I had thought that only NASA was still flying U-2s. But quoting Rob's email about the U-2, "It is flying more missions and longer missions than ever before, nearly 70 missions a month over Iraq and Afghanistan, an operational tempo that is unequaled in history". patrick
Hmm, Thought satellites and drones took over manned flights long ago. Anyway weren't the original U-2's single seaters? Perhaps, they have been updated recently as this one had 2 seats.
