Our friend and list administrator Patrick just called me and asked me to post in his behalf. He has had a medical procedure today “butt” is ok and needs some additional time to recover before answering the huge amount of email he has received. He really sounded sleepy and I haven’t slurred my words like that since 1969. I promised him that we would maintain our personal standard of excellence until his return.
"Our personal standard of excellence"? So now we can be that bad, then? Seriously, here's hoping Patrick recovers quickly. ________________________________ From: Steve Fisher <iotacass1@hotmail.com> To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Thursday, May 31, 2012 6:19 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Proxy post from Patrick Our friend and list administrator Patrick just called me and asked me to post in his behalf. Well, it was a short but glorious reign but I’m relieved to see him back even If it is limited to publishing the news for now. I was wondering if anybody remembered Al. ;-)

Thanks Steve. Like you said, I'm ok but boy I'm *still* groggy. When I was in the prep room with an IV in one arm I did go on to Utah-Astronomy and was going to reply right then to the Club Business thread but about then they put some sort of magic elixir in my IV and suddenly I didn't care anymore. :) After that they started shining lights in places where "the Sun don't shine" but I was out cold and didn't care. However, they did give me a bunch of color pictures. Maybe I'll pass them around at the next L&O. <G> Now, as to the "Business" thread, I'm just one person on this list but since I was asked I'll share my thoughts. While the great majority of folks on the list belong to SLAS I think we all know that Utah-Astronomy is not affiliated with any club or company. But that said, occasionally SLAS or OAS or UVAA things are discussed here. I'm fine with that. I like and encourage free flowing discussion of all things scientific. What does bother me though are attacks, especially of a personal nature. And I also find it tiresome when 2 or three people carry on a long conversation about something that really only involves them. So keep it civil, of interest to more than a couple of people and on topic (or at least close to on topic) and I wont have a problem. Like all of you I have a delete key and I use it a lot. patrick Disclaimer: All of the above were written while I'm still partly in La-La land... On 31 May 2012, at 18:19, Steve Fisher wrote:

Disappointingly coherent, Patrick. You must be taking the wrong dosages .... ________________________________ From: Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, May 31, 2012 11:05 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Proxy post from Patrick ("Business" followup) Thanks Steve.
