Why astrophotography?
For a succinct answer, I am reminded of my wife’s statement about me and other SLAS members. “Face it, dude. You’re a bunch of geeks.” Dave Gary

Some of us are pretty cool, actually. We watch over the geeks, dweebs, and paste-eaters just to keep them from getting into too much trouble, or talk the police out of running them in for making it into a "suspicious person in park with telescope" report. Somebody's got to do it. We are grateful for the ones who live on the fringe. They draw attention away from those of us who want to maintain a slightly lower profile. ;o) On 5/11/10, Dale Wilson <dalel2112@yahoo.com> wrote:

Wishy-Washy answers on the "know where they are" part of the definition makes me think you're a wannabe geek. Then again I could be wrong and you could be a real geek. My tiny screw drivers are right here in a my credenza with my spare set in my small, not large, red tool box, I'm afraid I'm real geek. But definitely not a nerd. Hi all. I thought I would try to enlighten this discussion by offering this Venn Diagram for geeks, nerds, and dorks (with dweebs also located). It might be helpful to place yourself on this diagram... just for a little self-awareness. According to this diagram... being a geek is pretty good... at least compared to the alternatives. :) Cheers, Tyler Link: http://www.allred-astro.com/images/Venn%20Diagram%20Geeks%20nerds%20dorks%20 dweebs.jpg PS - I hope the link works. My son and I have had long discussion about the differences between Geeks and Nerds. He prefers Nerd over Geek. I say OK, I'll call you a nerd. He's a math major at the U., he is a nerd and actually knows how to use those big graphing calculators. If the shoe fits. . .
