I don't see any ecconomically feasible ideas- yet. Sadly it's probably going to take a fatality to really spur a serious debris removal system. And of course the long-term solution is to stop adding to the problem. Spacecraft, even the shuttle, lose pieces like it was dandruff, with every launch.
