I was just out looking at the sun with the last unclaimed SunSpotter, and there is a large, extended group of spots that is just PEPPERED with tiny ones, around two larger groups. Used a home made 23mm 5-element eyepiece, the view was terrific. Wish I had the time to pull out the PST! If anyone takes a look in H-a, give us your report. Thanks!
I had my scope out earlier too and just loved it! Thanks Chuck!!! Now I just gotta get a new tripod On Sun, Jan 22, 2012 at 2:16 PM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

You are quite welcome! :-) Yeah, I need a new tripod, too. I tried using an old Edmund 1/4" FL Ramsden and the power was so high that it just shook miserably. I should have taken out the "Weightless" mount (that thing is a rock) but didn't have the time to drag it up from the basement.
I looked at the high-res pic that Deloy posted, and to me, it was easier to see those tiny spots in the SunSpotter, with the Baader filter, than on the screen with a yellow solar image. I've noticed this before. My Thousand-Oaks glass filter doesn't resolve the small or low-contrast details as well as the Baader material. It seems that any tint to the solar disk reduces contrast. Baader produces a while image.
