Ouch. The most I’ve spent, lately, is an outlay for Baader film from Seth. However, when I arrived at a friend’s house in Dammeron Valley for the transit he had just dropped his brand new Lunt on the driveway as he was setting up. He showed it to me when I got there. He was going to ship it back the next day. I felt sick when I saw it and it wasn’t even my scope. I can imagine it was a beautiful piece of equipment just before it hit the concrete. Unfortunately, I never got to look through it. To add insult to injury he was laid off from his job the following Monday. I’ll stick to Baader film and the solar glass filter for my ETX-LS for the time being. I would like to see some solar prominences, though. As for clouds-at-new-moon, Joe, with my luck it will be worse during the day. I’ve been hoping for the Hippy-Dippy Weatherman report: ‘Tonight’s forecast, dark; scattered light in the morning’. I haven’t viewed anything for several weeks, now. It’s been cloudy every evening in St. George for quite some time. The early morning is no better. If it’s clear enough, tomorrow, I may get some solar viewing in. Hopefully, as it nears new moon the skies may clear, but you know that’s not the usual case.

Hopefully the clouds hold-off tomorrow afternoon and I can get some time in at the PST and maybe even some backyard viewing at night, if I can stay awake. Planetary nebulae don't take much of a hit from moonlight, with narrowband filters. Double stars and clusters usually fare pretty well from the city and under moonlight, as well.
