Even the microscopic views sure look like the results of wind erosion to me. The more I look at them, the more I think the spherules could be micro-tektites or similar products of volcanism or impact, even micro-meteorites. The microscopic views I thought were strange were from Opportunity's Sol 14. Now they have made microscopic images of the rock outcrop, posted under Sol 15 at this site:
