The tripod in #3 is an Orion Skyview Pro tripod, possibly a Sirius tripod...It probably wouldn't hold that scope. Mount isn't too bad if you tune it up a bit. http://www.telescope.com/Mounts-Tripods/Equatorial-Mounts-Tripods/Orion-SkyV... Several pieces of astro-equipment were recently donated to SLAS by Boyd McNeil's estate and we need some information from those who might be familiar with some of them.
The scope in Boyd's observatory is on a wedge and pier as show in the following picture #1. If we remove it from the wedge will the scope work with the tripod and wedge also shown in the picture: 1) http://slas.us/slasbooks/mcneil/tripodwedgesscope.jpg
Anyone familiar with this scope? What is the purpose of the battery pack? 2) http://slas.us/slasbooks/mcneil/scopebatteries.jpg
What is this tripod off of? Could it be used with the wedge currently in Boyd's observatory (picture #1 above)? 3) http://slas.us/slasbooks/mcneil/oddtripod.jpg
BTW, SLAS was also given a couple of largish Newtonian OTAs on German equatorial mounts, a fork are and drive off of the scope Meade destroyed and a small refractor. The plan is to assemble all of the scopes once the weather warms and then determine what to do with them.
Any help much appreciated.
