Chuck, I started out owning a 1964 Renault Dauphine....then I got into British cars. First was a used 1964 red triumph spitfire - sweet car, whole hood open up and I could sit on a tire and do most of the work on it from there. Then a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, BRG, 260 cc, V-8 engine in a 2400 pound car! I took the side chrome strip off (only thing that distinguished it from the Alpine) and its surprised a lot of people when I'd hit 0-60 in 4.8 seconds! Held its own against XKE's and Vettes. Raced it a few time in SCCA Maraboro, Maryland in B products - 0-60 was under 5 seconds! Then 2 MGB-GT's. The 2 MGB-GT had TWO 6 volt batteries mount on each side of the rear jumpseat giving a virtual perfectly flat cornering. All these cars, except the Tiger required a lot of tinkering but they were a blast to drive and the handling was awesome. I miss all these oldies! Once had a Lotus Elan and a Sunbeam Tiger (like Maxwell Smart). Still own the 1970 Porsche 914-6, very rare and built for racing. It leaks oil. Always has.
