Shoshana, those are white-light solar binoculars. You'll see sunspots and that's about it. You need a hydrogen-alpha scope to see prominences and surface detail other than sunspots. I have to get up for work at 3:30 AM, so need to be in bed by about 8 PM. I can't even attend meetings or star parties during the week. On Friday nights, I can't stay awake for a star party because I've been up since early morning and working a physical job all day. Saturday nights are reserved for time with my wife, unless she wants to attend a star party, which is rare. So my regular attendance at club functions is awaiting my retirement. A few more years.
