I stepped out behind my shop at 5:30 this morning, looked up at the Summer Triangle, and saw a nice, bright "point" meteor flash, estimated at first magnitude, it was at least as bright as Vega.
Point meteors are those that are traveling directly toward the observer, so instead of a streak, you only see a flash.
