I think you may misunderstand the purpose of a remote switch in this instance. It is simply a momentary switch on the end of a short wire, mine is only about 18" long. It's intent is not specifically to allow operation at a distance, rather it allows mounting the laser on a telescope and turing it on and off without inducing any vibration or accidentally bumping the telescope by using the laser's primary switch.
