Debbie, My notes from the St. George Modelport are now ten years old, but I noted a limiting magnitude of 5, 5.5, 6, and 6+ depending on the part of the sky I was looking in. I am sure it is not as good now, but I would not be surprised to see 5.5. The seeing on Feb 1 I would rate as a 9/10, and the notes I have from ten years ago I rated the seeing at 8+/10. The December 1993 observations would have been with the 22" while the February 2003 were with my 12.5" Brent --- UTAHDEB@aol.com wrote:
Brent,
Thanks for the response. I figured you were busy or out of town. I got a chance to see Alpha Herculis Tuesday evening. Pretty double. 38 Lyncis was a nice double too. I worked my way through my AL doubles list from Bootes to Hercules. I really liked Epsilon Bootes too with the blue and yellow colors. I'll have to try that one in my 15". You showed me 95 Herculis last August. It was very colorful. Mu Draconis was also a pretty equal pair.
I'll try for Zeta Bootes and Gamma Virginis next week if the seeing is good. If not, I'll try them with the 15" on the 30th or 31st. I need to get my galaxy fix soon but I will plan on observing a few doubles too. I wanted to ask you what is the limiting magnitude at the old airstrip southeast of St. George? I don't like that Black Rock road location. It is too windy and too close to the freeway. The old airstrip seems a bit safer to me.
Debbie
