Ann, I've noticed this with my own daughter. I think kids today (and many adults) don't know the meaning of the word "friend". They use it instead of the more appropriate term "acquaintance". With Facebook, most of the "friends" aren't even acquaintences. The meaning of the word "friend" has been considerably diluted.
