Roger, if SPOC is going to be used for a Porky's type thing, can you let me know? Maybe I could be an extra .... or help move the lights .... or spectate .... or guard the clothing pile .... --- On Fri, 9/4/09, Roger Butz <dutchbutz@yahoo.com> wrote: From: Roger Butz <dutchbutz@yahoo.com> Subject: [Utah-astronomy] bloodbath To: "Kim Hyatt" <kimharch@cut.net> Cc: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Date: Friday, September 4, 2009, 1:37 PM Kim, I just got back on line, Wow what a bloodbath.I was just offering an opinion not chiseling policy into stone, I didn't expect any of this.I never even saw Chucks initial comments, I was responding to Richard Tenney's comments of 4:48pm Tuesday Sept. 1-09 where it appears as though he had already told Ms.Clemenza that "you could probably use the Salt Lake Astronomical Society Observatory," Maybe I should just "keep my comments to myself" as Mom often advised and withdraw as our friend Chuck has done. But as you know I'm not one to go Quietly into the night, much to the dissapointment of many I'm sure. Kim, Thank you for the supportive words and I'm sorry for the Beating. One thing I see as a problem with this type of communication is that it is very fragmented there is no flo or nuance, but hey I've never sent a text either. Does that make me a caveman? If so, so be it. I am guilty of proceeding more cautiously than most, my love of History and parental rearing are likely most responsible for that. The fact is: The Club has formally adopted the policy that SPOC is not to be used as a means to generate funds under any circumstances, as commerce has never been what we were about as a group who enjoy sharing the night sky with others. This and not wanting to see SPOC be part of a "Porky's" type film were the only points I tried to put forth, my mistake may have been trying to inject a little humor with the tin foil hat and campfire remarks. I do agree with Richard that it does sound like a fun project, my son's have been extras in a couple of locally shot films, always a fun diversion, but my concerns remain as previously stated. If any of my remarks offended or ruffled any ones feathers, I sincerely apologize.Lets all keep our patnies ironed,Peace, Love, Good Music, and Clear Skies.Signing off, your 2nd favorite curmudgeonRoger the dodger. _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com
