The canyon opens to the south so southern views are best. You'll want to camp as far south as possible so as to maximize views to the N. Haven't camped so do not know about sites. Steve
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Bryce is off for now for me. I work MWF and serve church services on weekends. I also don't do crowds. So my plan was a July 5 night, after most vacationers have gone home. Bryce's tent sites are already all booked. I'm working over the days of the astro fest. Also, if you get 10 degrees of daytime heat relief, you get 10 degrees of colder at night. I don't sleep much when I'm out, but my wife and kids do. Plus, with sunscreen and water, I love 100+ degrees. Utah is the state for me. I'm working through my Herschels now, but an opportunity to see 5 degrees further south than usual and extend my reach on the Caldwell list is welcome. So south is good for me. Honestly, I should be working on Herschels in Virgo and Coma before it's too late for the year, but I'm daunted. With a near full moon coming up, and not extremely far out, I caught some "difficulty 2" (according to O'Meara's book) globulars last night (although he rates the PN NGC6369 as 4/5 - pretty easy, and I could only manage to blink it at 75x). So I feel good about darker skies and less moon next week. Then maybe grab a trip to Knoll OHV (my usual spot) over new moon... Thanks for the suggestions.
