I had just stepped outside at about 4:45 AM this morning, when I glanced up and saw a Perseid of about magnitude 2 or 3 streaking through Cassiopia. It was only about 4 or 5 degrees long, due to being so close to the radiant. Generally, the closer to the radiant, the shorter the streak due to optical foreshortening.
