I'm looking forward to next year's public star parties and the opportunities that the "end of the world" will provide for interesting conversation/interpretation. Since national parks are open even to nut jobs, we should have a lot of fun next year. I was just pondering about all the hype about December 21, 2012 marking the end of the world. With that said, I thought about what astronomical events that I would like to transpire within the next year before the world ends and these two would top my list: 1. Confirmed evidence of life outside of earth 2. Betelgeuse going supernova How about the rest of you?
