You know, it's just a matter of time before an amateur actually detects a transiting exoplanet, rather than recording data on one known to exist. If you were to get lucky, recording brightness from the right star just as its planet crossed, you could do it. This fellow was using a 14-inch telescope so I presume it's well within the range of many amateurs. What a neat story, Chuck! -- Joe
