Oh I don't know, I received my combat diving certification in 1970 at Pearl Harbor and there are dive sites around the islands that are world class. Define cold? It's Hawaii, South Pacific. Visibility in the pristine dive locations is exceptional. Night diving in the lights of a dive boat with huge Manta Rays swarming you is a kick. K-Bay offers Hammer Heads shark diving. Sea turtles up the ying yang. Reef sharks galore! I'll put together a list of 5 star sites for those brave enough to dive Hawaii... For those advanced divers who want a real thrill, maybe go watch and feel the lava dump into the ocean... I think there used to be tours to watch that. I'll do some checking. An estate on Maui for SLASers? Sounds too good to be true.
Well if it doesn't work out we can all just stay at Rob's place. Right, Rob? :)
To clarify, the couple I spoke with do not own the estate. Their relationship to the estate is much like Magnum PI's relationship to the estate he lived on.
When shall we go?
How's about sooner than later? Perhaps late this year (when it's snowing here).
Guy, where is the best diving in Hawaii? I have only gone warm-water diving so I am looking forward to a new experience.
I'll be interested in hearing Guy's opinion. I spoke with Linda Nelson out at Seabase. She has dived all over the world (even both poles) and said if one is in Hawaii anyway then go ahead and do some diving on the side but she'd never put a trip to Hawaii together just for diving. She noted cold water and less that terrific underwater views.
So if we're going to put together another astronomy / dive trip, let's go back to Bonaire.
