Sounds great. It's unfortunate the family reunion happened at precisely the same time. Rodger was enthusiastic about the Vintage Telescope Star Party and will be talking with other SLAS board members about possibly holding it at a scheduled star party at SPOC in August. Since the solar viewing was clouded-out, we trained the telescope on the mountain peaks and tried-out an old Galoc 16.3mm Erfle eyepiece that I recently acquired on eBay. In excellent condition, I thought the imagery was pretty darn good. Eye-relief was short but field distortions weren't as bad as most 60-65-degree modern eyepieces I've used. We'll try and have another L&O sometime this summer. Hopefully some of the regulars who had to miss this one can make it next time. As soon as I got home, a big hole opened up in the clouds and the solar views were much better. So it goes. On Sat, Jun 21, 2014 at 10:08 PM, Larry Holmes <larry@kijoda.com> wrote:

Today's L&O was, as usual, wonderful. I really enjoy mingling with the great and interesting folk that comprise this community, especially in daylight enjoying a good meal. In this digital age, online conversations sometimes lack the nuance and warmth that is often needed to firm up the bonds of friendship. Thanks to everyone who participated, and thanks to Chuck for bringing the PST and a few choice eyepieces, even if all we could make out was a (mostly) featureless orange ball through the clouds... :)
