Although a crisp autumn night wouldn't be bad, either, as long as one is dressed for it. If you have a nice bino mount, you can do "lounge-chair" observing and remain toasty and comfortable. This means your mount must be able to pan in azimuth without "walking around the tripod". Russ, you'll have a blast, and it is a great way to break oneself into visual astronomy. Steve, sorry but there's no "burning man" analogy with live music. We have to settle for canned tunes.
