I saw my first perseid meteor this weekend. I was out in the desert at about 11pm when the radiant was still just below the north northeast horizon. The bolide started about 10 degrees above the radiant and rose straight up like a fireworks shot. The bright white trail took three seconds before fading out short of the zenith. The color and wide sparkling trail are a sign of the perseids and the path from the radiant confirmed it. Also saw a couple of not perseids coming from a different direction with a less intense color.
