Perseids were very active last night. I took breaks from observing for around 20 minutes and down on the Forest Land south of Vernon they were very evident. Many faint and quick ones came and you had to be watching. There were also many large and wonderful streaking ones leaving trails. We saw 5 or 6 that seemed to explode which was cool, one as a greenish color that did this. Jorge had his camera so I hope captured some and posts the image on the forums. By the way if you need quick access, go out to the Five Mile Pass area. No smoke as the fire is blowing northward and no impact from Five Mile Pass south. Less smoke also from the fire driving home this morning. This is much better than last year and I was at a decent site last year. Again as we all know, the darker the site, the more you see. When I was driving to the Vernon FR site, there was a group at Pit n Pole and I drove up to see if I knew them. I didn't and since it was crowded and Jorge and I had agreed on the Vernon FR site, I sent here. Looked like they would have had a good time but some were wearing shorts and tees. Remember if you go to the desert, it gets cool to cold at night.
