Quentin, In my experience the weather is better in late June. Southern Utah (Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef and Canyonlands) are usually much better than northern Utah. The "monsoon" season usually starts around mid-July and effects most of the State. Bryce Canyon has had several years in which almost every night in June was clear. Last year they did have some weather in early June but the Bryce Canyon Astronomy Festival was clear all four nights. It is scheduled this year for June 25-28, but you could easily stay later for the new moon. The weather at Bryce takes faith. In the morning it is clear, then it clouds up in the afternoon and clears almost miraculously by about 9:30 PM. If you decide to come to Bryce bring warm clothing. It will be in the low 80's during the afternoon and cool to the mid 40's by early AM. Is the climate better for observing in late may or late june? Just trying to make a final decision on when to take this trip. Thanks again for the responses so far. Thanks! Quentin R.
