Ann, We had so much excitement about looking at the Sun through telescopes down here at the Gateway and out in Sandy that we're doing it again for the transit. I know that NHMU has some kind of program planned about the Transit - do you know much about it? The planetarium will also have a new supply of solar viewing glasses. For the Venus Transit we're stocking viewers made with Aluminized Mylar, not the carbon-embedded polymer we previously sold. I didn't much care for the dark yellow-orange color or the softness of the image. That worked well for the eclipse, but since Venus should be just visible without magnification against the Sun, we want an image that's more crisp and colorless. We're also laying in a supply of Baader "Astrosolar" film (0.00001 transmission for direct visual observation) in case folks want to make their own filters. Anyone here want to bring telescopes again to either Gateway or the Dimple Dell Rec Center on Tuesday, June 5 (4PM - sunset) for public Venus transit viewing? Thanks, Seth Jarvis Clark Planetarium -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Ann House Sent: Tuesday, May 22, 2012 9:10 AM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Eclipse at Bryce Canyon Where will you be for the Venus Transit? Where/when would you like them?
