I hope it continues but if we don't come to an understanding with Stansbury then we may have to break down at 11:00 no matter the crowd. The water coming on was a disaster for some. Levi and Tony experienced water on their equipment. That was not good. We're there only 2 days a month. I would think an accommodation could be reached for two days. Ryan, You have done an outstanding job marketing our events. The Harmons star-party was also above expectations. SPOC Saturday was amazing. Thank you. We have never had a star-party like that at SPOC.
Agreed. At least for a non-special event (attendance at the Mars parties in 2003 was even bigger).
Now the question is will the trend continue or was last night a fluke?
After putting a great deal of personal effort in to the promotion of SLAS, I sincerely hope it is no fluke. That said, we did have a few things stack up all at once that boosted us a little higher.
We can discuss the details at the next board meeting, if anyone is interested. This isn't a SLAS business mailing list. I'll stop here and simply say: There has never been a better time to consider outreach astronomy as a fun and engaging activity. You can do this if you are part of SLAS or not. It can be very rewarding.
