Seems indicate an understanding of what humans consider a year and a day.
Only saying time has no meaning to God or an eternal being. Of course words would have no meaning either. .............. moving on. See 2 Peter 3:8

Joan, while I may agree with you, I really didn't want my original question to become a criticism of fundamentalists or anyone else who believes in a young earth. I just wondered if they had even thought of stellar evolution in reconciling their beliefs, and if so, how they do so.
By the way, for non-LDS on the list, we should probably make clear that "a day is to God as a 1,000 years is to man" comes from LDS theology. I'm pretty sure that it isn't found in any other sacred books such as the OT, NT, Koran, etc.

Kim, perhaps we are not on the same page, but most likely we are in the same book :)
When I think of "let there be light" I think of the moment Sol "turned on" - began to shine, sending out "light."
Eric - I had to look up specious to make sure I understood your point lol
Time - as an hour, a day, a year, or a millenia is defined by humanity (and, technically, science hehe, a day is one full rotation of the earth, a year is one full revolution of the earth around the sun ). It is the groundwork on which humanity bases its perceptions. Humanity needs to exend itself beyond the limitations of the groundwork. Much like science has extended thought from what we know (or think we know) on through string theory and multiple universes, humanity must extend or expand its perceptions of time beyond the known to the imaginable. If God exists and is all knowing and all powerful, than God's time cannot or should not be defined by basic human perceptions. The phase "a day is to God as a 1,000 years is to man" is an allegory, not a fact.
The existence of various civiliations on the earth, not just R oman or G reek, but E gyptian, C hinese, Sumerian and Babylonian have proved that civilized life on earth has existed far longer than 6,000 years. Yet, not just F undamentalists, but many Christian sects are unwilling to extend their perceptions beyond the basic. They limit themselves and they limit God. Now that is specious. :)
