Patrick I would think the best DSLR for astro use is one w/ low noise AND ease of use. as more and more DSLR's w/ big pixal count are produced, the last generation "used"models that are still quite good become available for a reasonable price. I see lots of Canon 10D's used for imaging, it must be a good camera. The astro software used for imaging is the other important factor, with those programs images begin to shine. If you can, borrow (Hah!!) a DSLR or be w/ someone using one and follow what's happening. The ergonomic factor of the body is something to consider also, you'll be using the DSLR in the dark and you don't need multi-button pushes to access functions. Have fun Rob
