I've got this pulsating red beacon light.. I'll bring that! :D No stars last night, and it was pretty cloudy this morning, but I did get a quick peek at jupiter around 630am. Interesting to see it on a blue sky. Hoping the clouds don't come back this afternoon - really want to give this scope a try! July I don't know if we've met but I'll introduce myself when I see you this week-end. Sounds like you have a great new scope; you'll get to give it good work-out at Capital Reef. I got my start on the original Orion 8" XT, no motor or computer, strictly push to, it still is a great scope.
Feel free to bring a very big bright Red Light and shine it in Kims' eyes, he's being a dweeb.

We don't know each other - yet - but I hope to be there. Just don't bring bright red lights. ;-)

I've finally got a telescope! We got the new Orion Goto/Tracking 8" Dobsonian. It arrived today and I just finished putting it together. Can't wait til it gets dark!
Hubby and I are planning on coming down to Capitol Reef this weekend. Anybody I know going to be there?

Not public. We set up at Panorama Point before you get to the main entrance so not fees required unless you want to camp in the park.

Would someone who knows please respond: Is the star party next weekend at Capitol Reef a public event, and if so, are entrance fees and/or camping fees being waived?
