Hey. I'm allowed to make fun of old people because I are one. Honestly a few years back I couldn't get people to look at comet McNaught because at that time the droning was deafening. And later that year the same thing happened with comet Holmes. It seems that some sort of public relations kerfuffle occurred almost 40 years ago and now every time the word "comet" makes it to the web the ballad of Kohoutek has to be sung. All twelve verses in four part harmony. It's as predictable as those yearly reminders that Mars will be visible as large as the full moon. and about a relevant. So children, go out and look at the comets if you want to. Don't be bound by the traumas of your elders. I'm sure Daniel meant it with affection for the local crowd, Patrick. ;-) My beard is white so I'm off the hook. Generally clear over the eastern horizon this morning but very windy, stars twinkling madly. No telescope with me today but I may try for ISON Saturday morning with the 12". If it's borderline in an 8", it should be an easy catch with the 12". On Fri, Sep 6, 2013 at 2:17 AM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:

A "droning graybeard" seminar!
Ha! Took me a moment to figure out what you meant.
BTW, I'm just getting home from my monthly program at Bryce where this time I spent part of my talk droning (but without a beard) about Kohoutek and the much hoped for possibilities of ISON.
