I wish you could have seen comet West, Mat. Imagine Hale-Bopp, but 2-1/2 times the apparent size. You'd see the first hints of broad tail start to rise early in the morning, and the nucleus wouldn't rise until hours later. It was comet Hale-Bopp that got me jump started in amateur astronomy. Hopefully this comet and any possibly more spectacular ones in the near future will also spark someone's interest and grow this hobby.
