Brent and Siegfried, I haven't had the time to do that research and since I'm preparing for an assignment in Vicksburg for the next couple of weeks I probably won't have time to look into it for awhile. If someone else wants to do so, great - I'd also like to know. Otherwise I'll try it work on it while I'm away. It's just a matter of locating a site where Jupiter is high enough (20 degrees? 30?) during nighttime hours. I doubt that I will be able to afford that kind of travel, but it's worth it to check it out. Where will the first two be visible? It might make sense to do a road trip.

19:02 UT makes the time 1:02 pm MDT, doesn't it? So we won't see the June 2014 transit, either. However, it might be interesting to try and see Jupiter in the daytime. The January 2015 transit is the most promising. Jupiter is high in the sky and all we have to do is hope for good weather. (January in Utah - riiiiight...) _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy
