I have attempted star tests with my scopes both before and after the coating. I am not very good at the star testing. I know that my curves aren't perfect but they are good enough to give me a nice image when viewing. I think that the star tests looked the same before and after the coating. I also did a ronchi test both before and after. I didn't notice any difference there either. I still have a slight depression in the middle that is covered by the secondary. -----Original Message----- From: Chuck Hards [mailto:chuckhards@yahoo.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2003 7:45 AM To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Subject: RE: [Utah-astronomy] Comet Catcher Dave (and Brent), did you test your mirrors after coating? Too thick a coating can affect the figure. How about pinholes? Does he offer stripping service? C. --- David Dunn <david.dunn@albertsons.com> wrote:
John has coated all four of my mirrors. I have been pleased with all of them. I haven't finished the 16" scope yet but the mirror looks good. I plan to have the 16" done by the end of March.
