I was born 362 days after the Sputnik launch. I therefore can claim to be truly a child of the "Space Age". Spacecraft symbolize my generation. Anyone born before the launch is considered a child of the "Age of Flight" -which of course started with the Wright Brothers "Flyer", the wood-and-fabric, 12 horsepower symbol of Patrick's generation. ;) --- Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote:
Boy, do I feel old. I still remember my mother taking me out in the driveway and watching as the 3rd stage flew over (which, at the time, we all thought was Sputnik).
IAF to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik 1
