I am fairly new to SLAS. When is the swap meet usually held? Is it mostly hobby parts, or scopes, accessories, etc as well? Thanks you, Jim Stitley --- David Dunn <david.dunn@albertsons.com> wrote:
I agree. We should hold the swap meet further south this year. It would be nice to find a place near a freeway exit to that all of us from the north don't get lost.

Let's try this again....I'll actually TYPE a message before I hit SEND. ;)
Gary, I sold one of the objectives, so I only have three, but I'll bring 'em. Maybe you can make a trinocular?
Sounds like there is some interest in eyepiece making, so I"ll bring whatever extra lenses I have on-hand to the swapmeet.
I have managed to go home with an empty car these past two years, I won't have nearly as much stuff this year, due to job pressures and schedules, I haven't had much free time to make stuff. This will be a "raw materials" year, I'm afraid. I do hope to make a few more bino-brackets, but haven't yet found the right extrusion in scrap. We'll see what happens.
Speaking of the swap meet, IMHO, we should hold it in March or later, what with the Olympics and all. I don't think we'll get the good weather we had 2 years ago in February, this time around. I also think it should be closer to the southern end of the Wasatch, since we've been closer the northern end two years straight.
Let's hear opinions on this. Ron, are you still lurking out there? You're the "father" of this swap meet, after all!
Chuck
PS: Gary, my boss loves having the big scope here. It impresses our customers no-end! And he's used to my glassy, vacant "thousand-yard" stare!
