Looks fun Patrick. Is the landing a little harder with those old school parachutes than with the ones of today?

Hi Mat, Short answer: Yes. Long answer: If you land today's parachutes correctly it's like taking a step while walking (very little impact). In fact, many folks today on their first couple of jumps land so softly they land on their butts. Still, the old canopies shown in the picture are not like the even older military gear that tend to slam the jumper into the ground (I have one of those too but have not jumped it for several years). Rather, landing the ones shown in the picture is like jumping from a platform a meter or two high. BTW, for those who might be interested, the guy jumping the Paradactyl (the triangular canopy) put a video camera on his foot facing up and got this: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=2297033178698 If that's not working yet (it went down as I was about to send this) here's a compressed version: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/dactyl-2011oct31/tom-dactyl-02.mov And a few more images from Monday's jump: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2570742513677.147659.1407672426&typ... patrick
