The one difference is the landing light. He said you keep the landing light off for most of the descent. Then, just as you are about to touch down you switch it on and, if you don't like what you see, you switch it off. :) But seriously, as much as I like flying at night I seldom venture far from major highways. As my very first instructor showed me (in maneuvers that were probably not legal then and are certainly forbidden today) it's not all that hard in a light aircraft to set up for a landing at night between two vehicles on a long stretch of highway... pw
