Dave, you are enthusiasm unbridled. The Leonid radiant hadn't even risen when you were out. The sky was very transparent by 1:00 am Sunday morning. Had I not been sick, I would have headed to a more remote site. Mild weather was most welcome for mid-November. Navy watch cap and medium-weight jacket kept me toasty. --- David Dunn <david.dunn@albertsons.com> wrote:
I went out to the northwest of Promontory Saturday night. I spent a couple of hours looking around with my 16" scope. After about 7:30 the sky turned a bit milky. There must have been some moisture or high clouds. The sky washed out until it was only just a little bit better than it would be in my backyard. I saw a few dim meteors fly through Perseus and Auriga. One of them kind of reminded me of the storm a few years ago. Several meteors appeared at the same time, right next to each other. I went home at about 9pm, since the sky wasn't real nice.
Last night, I was in the hot tub at about 9:30pm. I saw several dim Leonid meteors again. I also saw one really bright green one. I also a few meteors that appeared to radiate out of Cetus right near Mira.
