I have struggled from the beginning to the present with the proper pronunciation of constellation names. I notice that I am not the only one. However; not even Kim Hyatt ( ;-) has insisted on a particular pronunciations that I am aware of. Now, take the pronunciation of Cassiopeia. Is it KASS-ee-oh-PEE-yah or kass-ee-OH-pee-yah or kass-ee-OH-PEE-yah? I googled for some pronunciation guides and found several. Two of which are listed here. Interestingly enough, they don't agree on the pronunciation of Cassiopeia either, as well as many others. http://starfinders.cvnet.net/articles/conpron.htm <http://www.wro.org/constellations/pronoun1.htm> Canes Venatici is another one. If the word is Italian, then you might think it would be pronounced KAY-nes ven-a-TI-chee, or something similar, but the two listed guides agree that it should be KAY-neez vee-NAT-I-see. I applaud you all for being tolerant of one another in this regard. It would be nice to all speak the same language though. Maybe we could ask Kim to come up with a Utawh pronunciation guide. Uuuh, on second thought - that's ok. Jim --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Shopping - with improved product search
