We were delayed and got there at 9:00am and got stuck in the line of cars. There were school busses in the line in front of us and behind us. I called up NASA TV on my phone and watched. We heard the boom and saw the glowing smoke cloud rise over the hill, lit up by the fire. Jamie Bradley On Mar 12, 2015 5:43 PM, "Siegfried Jachmann" <siegfried@jachmann.org> wrote:
I got there at 4:45 and was first in line. That didn't help. Being first meant I got shuffled to the back end of the parking lot. It wasn't until I asked half an hour later that I was able to relocate to a prime location. But cutting it too close is risky for the last hour or so the road was packed. Only 2 of the 9 scheduled school buses made it on time and into the viewing area.
Because I have a temporary handicap placard I was able to park in the handicap zone close to the porta-potties.
The 2nd person arrived at 5:29. My brother was third at 5:35. Given the magnitude of this event getting there between 6 and 7 would have been just fine. After that it's a matter of finding a nice security guard. On Mar 12, 2015 3:03 PM, "Dunn, David" <David.Dunn@supervalu.com> wrote:
Thanks for sharing this. As a result of some projects at work, I wasn't able to go. That was neat to see and hear a rocket motor tested again.
Question for Siegfried, did you really need to go that early or would an hour before have been enough? Just wondering for future events.
Thanks, Dave

In case you've not seen it yet, Siegfried got a great video of this morning's test fire at ATK:
