The Bryce Canyon Astronomy Festival, May 17-20, will be a great event this year coinciding with an Annular Eclipse of the Sun. Totality will be visible from Bryce the evening of May 20. If you would like to participate as a volunteer I need the following information: 1. First and Last Name. 2. Vehicle Make 3. Vehicle License 4. Telescope kind and size. 5. Do you want free camping? Free camping will be provided in the park. We also hope to have discounted room rates at the Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel for volunteers. Information about this will be forthcoming. 6. Nights you would like to volunteer. May 17, May 18 and/or May 19. On May 20 the Park will set up equipment for viewing the eclipse for the general public. Rainbow Point will be available for those who wish to set up their own equipment for the eclipse. After the eclipse on May 20, those who wish to set up in the regular public star party lot across from the visitors center may do so and help with a more informal public star party. The last bus from the public star party usually leaves around 12:30 AM. After that you are free to remain and observe for yourselves until dawn. We will have a white light exit for those who wish to leave at 1 AM. Please be sure to provide all of the above requested information. Contact me at djcolton@piol.com if you have any questions.
