Sometimes I think writers just like to have fun coming up with entertaining headlines. I found one this morning on an MSNBC story that dealt with the same subject but the headline read: "Gasp! Even Martian Dirt Points To Water" pw On 22 May 2007, at 07:50, Chuck Hards wrote:
This NASA headline caught my eye:
"Mars Rover Spirit Unearths Surprise Evidence of Wetter Past"
That just doesn't sound right at all. Wouldn't Spirit have to "unmars" surprise evidence of a wetter past?
Will the term "earth", when referring to soil, be carried to other worlds, or do we need a new, more universally correct term? This can be extended to geology. Will a geologist still be a geologist when he/she is working on Mars? Or will they be an areologist? Will future residents of Tau Ceti bask in "sunshine", or possibly get "sunburned"?
Nit-picky stuff for a Tuesday morning. I need to find something to do, quickly... ;o)
